 The conflict between the Franco-Spanish and Anglo-Dutch fleets at Vigo Bay in October 1702 took place during the war of the Spanish Succession (1700-1713). This battle at the bay is depicted in a group of documents that came from Amsterdam, The Hague, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Augsbourg and Paris and were published all through the 18th century -mainly in the first three decades. Likewise, the collection also contains six maps with the theatre of operations of the well-known editors Nicolas de Fer from Paris, Christopher Browne from London, Gabriel Bodenerh from Augsbourg and Iacobum Robyn, Carolus Allard and Pierre Mortier from Amsterdam.
 One of the most important items of this collection is the illustration called “Representatio belli ob successionem in Regno Hispanico Auspicis…”, which is one the many great works by Jeremías Wolf (Augsbourg, ca. 1720). Highly reputed artists like Paul Decker and Johann August Corvinus take part in it. Likewise, other works by important
engravers, artists and publishers can be highlighted, like the ones by Jonathan Felbeckers from Nuremberg, Daniel de la Feuille and Pieter Shenk from Amsterdam, Johann Joachim Müllern from Frankfurt, Anna Beek and Jan van Call from The Hague and Bouclet, Aubert, Nicolas-Marie Ozanne and François Jacques Dequevauviller from Paris, amongst others.
From July 26th to November, 8th 2002, the exhibition “Rande 1702. Arde o Mar” was opened to the public on the occasion of the inauguration of the Galician Museum of the Sea in Alcabre, Vigo. Important institutions from France, Holland, the United Kingdom and Spain took part in the event. The collection Puertas-Mosquera on Rande was also present and its images included in the published catalogue.
